Is Trump a racist? No one knows for sure. What we do know for sure though, is that Trump appeals to racists. We know that his base consists of racists. We know that Trump does not condemn racists or racist ideology forcefully. We know that Trump says and tweets racist things to get his base riled up.
It’s true that not all Trump supporters are racist but many of them are. I don’t think we will ever know what exact percentage of Trump’s base is racist. His supporters like him for a variety of reasons. The hate and racism he spews is just one reason. We do have anecdotal evidence of his supporter’s racism.
Let’s take his recent rally where his supporters chanted “send her back” in reference to Rep. Omar. That is one example of something that occurred at one of his rallies. There is another example, at another rally, where one of his supporters said “shoot them” in response to how illegals should be dealt with.
Social media is the best example that gives A LOT of anecdotal evidence of Trump’s supporters racism. Face Book. Twitter. Message boards and comment sections of news articles. You can see the racism of those who support Trump. Look at the social media platforms you are part of and see for yourself. In my case, I see a lot of racist posts on Face Book in my news feed several times a week. Racist memes. Racist comments. Racist conspiracy theories. Racist posts. Many of these posts are of things, Trump has said and tweeted. His supporters parrot what he says.
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence showing that Trump’s supporters are racist or support what Trump spews out at rallies. Unfortunately, we will never know be able to know what percentage of his base holds those views.
